A neighborhood near the Truckee airport remained under an evacuation order Friday morning because of a wildfire that police say was intentionally set.
The Butterfield Fire was reported around noon Thursday in an area between the airport and the Truckee River, and evacuation orders were issued before 12:30 pm
By late afternoon, residents were allowed to return to the western part of the neighborhood, but the eastern remained off limits. The Zonehaven map above shows the evacuation order in red; It includes Butterfield Drive and part of Joeger Drive. A segment of the Legacy Trail along the river has also been closed.
Truckee fire officials say the fire’s spread was stopped at about 12 acres.
Truckee police say they arrested a woman who admitted to starting multiple small fires.
