San Jose man killed after driving off Highway 9

SARATOGA — A motorist died on Highway 9 on Thursday night after driving through a curve in the road and rolling down an embankment, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 9 pm when the driver of a 2014 Nissan GT-R headed north on Highway 9 approaching Redwood Gulch Road went off the roadway, causing the car to fall down an embankment and roll over several times, the CHP said.

The car was severely damaged, and the driver died at the scene. He has been described by the CHP only as a 40-year-old San Jose resident; his full name his will not be publicly released until the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner ‘s Office formally identifies him and notifies his next of kin.
