Police release body-cam footage showing officers shooting down two men

SAN FRANCISCO — Police released body-cam footage on Friday showing the May 19 officer-involved shooting that left two middle-age men dead.

San Francisco Police officers responded to the corner of Mariposa and Owens streets in the Dogpatch in response to a 911 call. When police arrived, the officers found two men fighting.

The men were later identified as Rafael Mendoza, 49, and Michael Macfhionghain, 57, according to police.

In responding to the incident, officers shot at the two men killing them, police said. Macfhionghain was declared dead at the scene and Mendoza was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

There are no further details at this time.
