Monte Sereno councilmember files liability claim against city – The Mercury News

Councilmember Rowena Turner filed a liability claim against the city of Monte Sereno that was discussed during closed session earlier this week.

City council unanimously voted to reject the claim during its June 21 meeting because it was “untimely,” Mayor Javid Ellahie said after the closed session.

Turner was convicted of illegal voting in Oregon last October after records showed she voted in both California and Oregon during the November 2018 general election.

Allegations of her voting in two states surfaced in 2020, when voting and election integrity were under intense scrutiny. Turner’s conviction gained public attention in 2022 after Oregon newspaper Grants Pass Daily Courier published a story on her conviction her.
