ORINDA — A man was found fatally shot outside a recreation area Sunday, authorities said.
Oakland police said officers responded just after 7 pm to the 3900 block of Grizzly Peak Boulevard, about three-quarters of a mile north of Fish Ranch Road, and found the body on land just west of the Siesta Valley Recreation Area, an East Bay Municipal Utility District-managed watershed property.
Homicide investigators responded to the area to begin an investigation.
Police said an identity was being withheld in the case, which is the 41st homicide under investigation by Oakland police this year. At this time last year, the department had investigated 49 homicides.
