By just 65 votes, Bellarmine baseball player Diego Enriquez edged Washington-Fremont lacrosse player Aaron Edelson to receive the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week honors for April 25-May 1.
At the 5 pm deadline Wednesday, Enriquez had 6,968 votes (33.81%) to Edelson’s 6,933 (33.64%).
Leigh baseball player Nate Miller (2,056/9.97%) took third.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Enriquez, in a game Bellarmine had to win to remain in the West Catholic Athletic League race, went 3 for 3, scored a run and knocked in a run as the Bells prevailed on the road against first-place St. Francis 6-3.
